Courses, Coaching and Events.
One of the greatest challenges anyone new too long riding faces, will be learning to seperate “cool stories” from actually useful information. Many people will offer you advice, and many “self proclaimed experts” advised both us, and many of our closest friends prior to setting off. This often second hand, or outdated information caused us and those in similar situations many unnecessary failures that could have easily been avoided by a bit first hand knowledge and advice. Having made so many mistakes personally, we aim to help others avoid making their own through either personalised coaching, or by bringing riders together.
Upcoming Events.
Third Annual Longrider Weekend.
11-13 July 2025
Held at… Kleinried 30
94239 Zachenberg. Germany.
It is the responsibility of ALL horsemen to protect and grow our sport ethically. As a result we wish to create an affordable, welcoming, and inclusive environment for horsemen regardless of gender, age, or experience; to discuss and refine their skills as long riders, or those that have all the passion but are yet to experience a long ride.
What to expect…
We encourage connecting with others, with nature, and with our equines; and as a result will not be allowing people to stay indoors, and “wherever practical” encourage all participants to remain barefoot. We encourage people not to bring any processed foods or beverages onto the property “but understand if you need a Red Bull to function”, and will be cooking ethically sourced wild meats and organic vegetables with the fire to encourage a sense of community and conection with nature throughout the weekend. “Vegan options will be available at each meal”.
The cost is 50€ per person per day and includes beer, wine, all meals and snacks, a camping spot, and free paddocks for your horses if you choose to bring them.
BPLC Barnwear will be available for sale on the day, as will BPLC saddles, skins, girth making materials, and books. The amazing and totally gangster Anja who is responsible for the BPLC Barnwear merch will also have her TATTOO GUN with her! Although an amazing artist, tattoos are new for her and if you want some ink done form an orderly line behind me and Luisa for a tattoo by a future legend for a very reasonable price!
If you would like to bring your horse at no additional cost, we need to hear from you beforehand and you may arrive earlier “by negotiation.”

Coaching & Courses.
We encourage everyone to “ride their own ride”. But there are some unavoidable realities and universal truths applicable to all longer rides that sadly we all too often learned through our failures. We were often naïve, over confident, and almost always poorly equiped and prepared despite Pete’s lifetime of experience in the military, as a professional hunter, and outdoorsman. We learnt first hand that the online experts are for the most part anything but, and it was the hard lessons on the steppe as well as its even harder inhabitants that taught us the most valuable lessons during our travels. If you don’t know where to start, or are afraid to take the next step… get in contact with us.

Weekend "long ride" course.
Over the last few years, we have helped a lot of people prepare for horse back journeys. None more successful than “Gonzo”, who we helped train and equip for an amazing solo trek through France and Spain.
We now offer anyone wanting to prepare for a “long ride” the opportunity to stay with us here in Bavaria and you can bring your horse too! We can easily accomodate small groups, and have the expansive Bavarian Forest starting right at the back fence. We have a well stocked saddlery here, and offer a structured 2 day course “we tailor to suit you” which includes all meals and accommodation for you and your horse.
Cost is 500€ per person and is available by negotiation when we aren’t on a long ride.

One on one coaching.
There is a LOT involved in a successful long ride and far to many coaches have either never done one, or not traveled far enough to fail. To many people paint the “insta perfect” view of life on the road and the truth is it can be brutal, freezing, stressful and down right dangerous. with literally thousands of nights sleeping rough across nearly 50 countries between us, often in either a hostile environment or with a horse by our sides, we are prepared to answer the questions others simply wont touch.
One on one coaching is a tough thing to put a price on, and we try to help everyone within their budgets rather than set a one size fits all price. Get in touch, and lets talk about how we can help you succeed where we failed.

Saddle making courses.
Saddle making is something not everyone will succeed at, and your results will be a reflection of your ability to apply the lessons learned, and your attention to detail.
As a result, we have changed things around a little, and now offer a three day course here in Bavaria in which you will get to learn every step in the making of your own BPLC saddle of your choice. However, in order to ensure you get a product finished to the highest standards, we will finish it up here for you and post it shortly thereafter. You will however take away the skills to make your own at home!
Cost is 250€ per day including food, accomodation and tuition, and the cost of whichever saddle you choose to make.

Online courses.
We were recently asked by Warwick and Robyn Schiller to put together an online course for their website. We did so happily, and are now able to offer it exclusively via their website.
Its a LONG course, and covers everything we wished we knew before setting off and consists of a good 11 hours worth of short 10-15 minute videos covering everything from hoof protection to ethical carrying capacity of horses. You can find it at…
